Over these past 2 months Iβve noticed an incredible amount of my friends, family, students and clients going down with illnesses and viruses that have been reoccurring. Iβm aware itβs the time of year that these illnesses can be stubborn... and hard to shift. However itβs important to keep our Immune System boosted to fight these viruses.
π» In Ayurvedic medicine Dates are considered a Superfood π»
π»Dates directly nourish Ojas (Immune System). They are an excellent source of iron, which is needed to make hemoglobin ( protein contained in red blood cells that carries oxygen from lungs to all parts of the body tissues ). Iron supports the Immune System to work efficiently.
π»Because Dates are Sattvic they promote a balanced mind.
π»Dates are an excellent source of Vitamin C helping to reduce respiratory problems.
π» Dates balance Vata and Pitta Dosha but can increase Kapha Dosha if eaten in excess.
π» Dates are also taken in the case of low libido or infertility, helping to nourish the Reproductive Tissues ( Shukra Dhatu )
They are heavy so eating 1-2 dates daily is sufficient, otherwise they can overstimulate Agni ( digestive fire )
